Monmouth Lingotot Centre
Ciao! Hola! Welcome to Lingotot Monmouth
My name is Silvia and I’m a passionate linguist. I was born and raised in Italy, but I’ve left home to travel the world when I was very young to discover the beauty of other countries, culture and ultimately other languages.
After a career in children’s language publishing, I’ve decided to take a break from the 9-5 job. So, I’ve qualified as EFL teacher and went to volunteer in a nursery in Angola. This experience made me realise how much I love languages and teaching, that’s why joining Lingotot was the perfect career for me.
Wales became my home in 2014, I immediately fell in love with this beautiful bilingual part of the country. When I become a mom of my son George I got to meet lots of lovely parents and it was great to share the experience on racing bilingual kids.
Learning a language is such a precious skill and It's never too early to learn a second language. Children are like sponges and, especially in the first 2 years of their life, their brain absorbs an incredible amount of information. That is the best time to incorporate a second language into their learning because they will assimilate both languages equally and without making a mistake. It will just be natural for them.
I have seen the results on my own son and am just buzzing with excitement to be starting in Monmouthshire.
Lingotot classes are fun, interactive and designed to introduce your child to a new language through games, rhymes, stories and crafts. All our sessions are conducted almost entirely in the target language.
We'll be kicking off in September 2019 with Italian and Spanish, but plan to expand our team to have Welsh and French classes too, so watch this space!
What can I offer:
Classes are suitable for babies, toddlers, young children and their parents/carers so the whole family can enjoy learning a new language together!
Italian and Spanish to nurseries, playgroups and childminders. Each child will receive a full-colour workbook to track their learning journey, which also has ideas and tips to continue the learning long after Lingotot have left the building! If this is something that your educational setting would like, please get in touch.
PPA and AFTER SCHOOL CLUBS
Do your staff lack the confidence to deliver Modern Foreign Languages in your school? I can deliver MFL to meet the National Curriculum's requirements while your teachers get on with their Planning, Preparation and Assessment activity time. The KS2 course can even lead to a qualification! In addition to this I can offer after school club or lunch time clubs based on drama, singing or crafts, all in the target language.
Children who are educated at home can enjoy my MFL activities too. Please contact me for more details.
I look forward to welcoming you to one of our classes soon!
A presto! Hasta luego!
