Lingotot Backs Language Introduction Into Primary Schools in Ireland This Coming Term

This coming October/November term will see a pilot introduction of languages to 100 primary schools across Ireland for 6 weeks. Schools will have the autonomy under the scheme to choose which language they wish to be taught and to bring in a qualified language teacher.

In a recent report into the quality of modern foreign language practise in schools in Ireland, it was noted that reinstating languages in primary settings would be a timely move and beneficial for learning later on.

The children’s language business Lingotot has long since identified the benefits of primary-aged language education and welcomes this news wholeheartedly. Lingotot Ireland has a fantastic network of qualified, passionate teachers who have been teaching languages to children in Ireland since 2018. With this new venture in primary schools comes a vast possibility for not only Lingotot Ireland, but the quality of language education across the country.

Sofia Colás, founder and Managing Director at Lingotot Ireland, says, ‘we are absolutely over the moon about this long awaited news! Languages are so important and we are happy to play our part in language education in Ireland. As schools will be finding out whether they were successful applications for this pilot scheme on August 26th, there will be plenty of time for them to source a language educator before the term commences. Lingotot Ireland will be ready and on hand to offer our services to schools when the time comes.’

If your school or a school near you needs help with the provision of any of the languages in the curriculum, get in with Lingotot Ireland at ireland@lingotot.com or visit their website here for more information.
