Angela Sterling, a fully qualified teacher and mum of two, founded Lingotot in 2010. Lingotot introduces languages to children aged 0-12 in a fun and engaging way. Angela found that her vision for language learning was appreciated and shared by many who also saw the opportunity that Lingotot presents. Lingotot now proudly boasts a network of over 60 franchisees across the UK and Ireland. Although we continued to confront the consequences of COVID-19 during 2021, the Lingotot network has had a year of many successes.

Lingotot welcomed 10 fantastic new franchisees in 2021, all launching amid a year of lockdowns and restrictions. Due to the innovations the network implemented at the start of the pandemic, Lingotot businesses continued to utilise these streams successfully. One of these innovations was Holiday Camps. 2021 saw the most camps run and most attendees than ever before. These camps allow outdoor and indoor learning, immersing the children in a second language for full days at a time. Activities are child centered and include singing, dancing, exploring, crafts, team challenges and more. All risk assessments were updated to reflect the current situation and keep everyone safe.

Lingotot continued to make use of their comprehensive online learning platform throughout 2021 as lockdowns came and went. This allowed classes to continue running no matter what the current restrictions were and for children to receive the language education they needed. Lingotot also hosted a hugely successful online celebration for the European Day of Languages. This free, day-long event allowed children aged 2-12 to take part in classes, quizzes, storytelling sessions, challenges and karaoke via livestream.

To support franchisees, especially during the pandemic, Lingotot introduced a Business Mindset Programme in 2021. This online course places value on mindset and how this can positively impact business growth. The network continued to support and mentor each other through online webinars and social events, staying close during the continued straining times.

Although this is only touching the surface of all the amazing achievements the network has seen throughout 2021, big and small, these efforts have not gone unnoticed. Lingotot were finalists in 7 national awards, most significantly in the BFA awards (dubbed ‘the Oscars of the franchising world) and being named one of the highest ‘Rising Stars’ in the HSBC Elite Franchise 100, a definitive list of the top franchises across the UK.
