Lingo on the Tyne!

Lingotot franchisees from the length and breadth of the UK descended upon Newcastle in September for a weekend of business, education, friendship and cocktails! Trains, cars and even planes were full of red polo shirts and big smiles en route to our annual conference.

We kicked off with sales and marketing training with Michelle Rose. Michelle has been a great friend of Lingotot for many years now and rightly so as she is the perfect fit for our franchisees. Michelle’s passion is for smaller businesses and working with women who have left their careers to start a business around a young family - that’s exactly what she did and what many of our fabulous franchisees do too, so Michelle really understands us! She led her talk on getting women to fall in love with their marketing so that they become truly consistent with it (which is often easier said than done!).

Franchisees then heard from Lingotot’s wonderful Director of Franchise Operations, Helen McKie, who spoke in detail about The Rose Review. The review, commissioned by the Treasury and headed up by Alison Rose, Deputy CEO of NatWest, identifies barriers to female entrepreneurship and makes recommendations on what can be done to overcome them. This really struck a chord with our 100% female network and led to some exciting discussions about female empowerment in business.

After a long and yummy networking lunch, we heard from fellow franchisor, Rachel Fay from Little Learners. We shared good practice across our businesses and found we have loads in common!

Nathalie Paris of Nattalingo was next. If you haven’t heard of Nathalie, she is a French-Geordie MFL storyteller (check out her blog to hear her wonderful accent!). Her talk on storytelling was very engaging and got everyone’s creative juices flowing…she even grabbed some of our franchisees and even our CEO up to the front of the room to tell a story.

After some coffee and cakes it was awards time! Every year we host our annual awards to recognise the hard work, friendship and commitment of our network. It was so very hard to judge as quite frankly all of our franchisees are utterly wonderful! BUT we had to choose some winners and we are delighted to announce them here:

Going For Growth: Joanna Bruce of Lingotot South Durham

Commitment to Excellence: Lucy Cass of Lingotot Darlington

Shooting Star: Jaclyn Townshend of Lingotot Gravesend

New Franchisee: Bex Westwood of Lingotot Wakefield

Master of Marketing: Sarah Lester of Lingotot Sutton

Network Contribution: Sarah Canavan of Lingotot Bexley

Top Franchisee Award: Sarah Canavan of Lingotot Bexley

We finished with a celebration evening out at Las Iguanas in Newcastle where we enjoyed tapas and cocktail making before saying our fond farewells…until next year!
