National children's language franchise, Lingotot, has backed the Princess of Wales' new campaign on early years development, "Shaping Us". Lingotot CEO Angela Sterling saying she "wholeheartedly agrees that not enough attention is paid to how children's first five years profoundly shape our lives as adults."
In an open letter, Catherine says, "I am absolutely determined that this long-term campaign is going to change that. They really are years like no other in our lives."
This is not the first time the Princess has highlighted the importance of early years. She has been a passionate advocate for early childhood development for many years. Through her research and work, she has come to understand that the first five years of a child's life are crucial for their physical, emotional, and cognitive development. The experiences that children have during this time can shape the rest of their lives, and it is therefore essential that parents and caregivers provide the best possible start for their children.
In 2020, she launched a campaign called "5 Big Questions on the Under Fives," which started a national conversation about the importance of early childhood development.
At Lingotot we couldn't agree more and since our inception in 2010 we have always aimed to help develop strong bonds between parents and children as well as caring for new mothers. We always make sure we spend time chatting to parents and giving them a hot drink and a sweet treat! And for the children we believe that learning a second language at a young age can provide numerous benefits for child development, and our programmes are designed to make language learning a fun and engaging experience.
This campaign is a powerful reminder of the critical importance of early childhood development. By encouraging parents and caregivers to share their experiences and insights, the campaign is helping to create a more supportive and informed culture for families with young children. The Princess of Wales' advocacy on this issue is a vital contribution to the health and wellbeing of children across the UK and beyond.
