The children’s language franchise Lingotot teaches fun and interactive classes to kids aged 0-12 across the UK and Ireland. Local entrepreneur Eimear Lynch is the newest member of the network. Eimear recently founded Lingotot North Leeds after seeing an opportunity to bring language learning to children here. We’ve been getting to know more about Eimear, her background and her business.

Hi Eimear! Let’s jump straight in with a business question, what languages will you be bringing to children in North Leeds?

Hi there! Lingotot North Leeds will be bringing Spanish sessions to kids in our local area. Keep an eye out for our classes coming soon!

What areas will your classes be coming to?

We will be operating in Moortown, Chapel Allerton, Alwoodley and more!

Tell us a little more about yourself

I grew up and currently live in Leeds, however I studied in Newcastle and lived abroad in Chile for a year where my passion for teaching and languages really ignited. I was teaching English during this year and fell in love with it. I also learnt so much about Chilean culture and improved my Spanish skills immensely. During my final year of university I decided I wanted to go into teaching languages to show children the amazing fun and diverse opportunities that come with it. The cultural side to learning languages is an important part of entering an increasingly global world and when better to start learning this than at school! I then went on to complete my PGCE to kickstart my teaching career.

Why did you decide to found your own Lingotot business?

I have been working as a languages primary school teacher and absolutely love beginning the kids language learning journey with them at such a young age. It sets them up for entering secondary school with a sound foundation and they respond so well to my passion for the subject that I wanted to continue this in my local area. I was also looking for a career path with more autonomy and Lingotot was the perfect mix of the two.

What are you most excited about?

I always work on making language learning fun and exciting for the children I have taught and I can’t wait to continue with this. Languages are key to cultural understanding and allowed me to travel and find a career I love.
