Lingotot Redcar has arrived! Meet the founder, Helen

The children’s language franchise Lingotot teaches fun and interactive classes to kids aged 0-12 across the UK and Ireland. Local entrepreneur Helen Jones is the newest member of the network. Helen recently founded Lingotot Redcar after seeing an opportunity to bring language learning to children here. We’ve been getting to know more about Helen, her background and her business.
Hi Helen! Let’s jump straight in with a business question, what languages will you be bringing to children in Redcar and Cleveland?
Hi there! Lingotot Redcar will be bringing Spanish, French and German sessions to kids in our local area. Classes will be coming soon so watch this space!
What areas will your classes be coming to?
We will be operating in Redcar and Cleveland, as well as the North York Moors and Whitby!
Tell us a little more about yourself
I grew up in Durham and now live with my partner in Stockton. I studied at the University of Hull which included a year abroad working in two primary schools; one in North Germany and one in Clermont-Ferrand in France. I have always been interested and passionate about French, German and Spanish and this year was an amazing opportunity to immerse myself in the language and culture of each place.
Why did you decide to found your own Lingotot business?
I have been teaching French, German and Spanish for 14 years at a secondary school in Sheffield and although I have absolutely loved it, I saw pupils coming into year 7 with very varied language abilities. This made me think about how I could make an impact and create a much more equal level of primary language opportunities, especially back home in the North East.
What are you most excited about?
I am extremely excited to bring an array of language classes to children in the Redcar area and nurture a passion for languages from a much younger age. It’s going to be really fun!
