The children’s language franchise Lingotot teaches fun and interactive classes to kids aged 0-12 across the UK and Ireland. Local entrepreneur Leanne Brown is the newest member of the network. Leanne recently founded Lingotot South Huddersfield after seeing an opportunity to bring language learning to children here. We’ve been getting to know more about Leanne, her background and her business.
Hi Leanne! Let’s jump straight in with a business question, what languages will you be bringing to children in South Huddersfield?
Hi there! Lingotot South Huddersfield will be offering French and Spanish opportunities in the local area for children aged 0-12. We are currently working out logistics so watch this space!
What areas will your classes be coming to?
We will be operating in Holmfirth, Meltham, Honley, Denby Dale and more!
Tell us a little more about yourself
I live in Holmfirth with my husband and two boys aged 1 and 4. We absolutely love living in the countryside and being part of such a wonderful community. I always really enjoyed French and Spanish at school and went on to work near Perpignan in the south of France prior to completing my French and Spanish degree at university.
Why did you decide to found your own Lingotot business?
I have had a successful career as a secondary school French and Spanish teacher and middle leader, however I wanted to shift my focus to primary aged students to try and instil and nurture a love of languages from a much younger age. I was also looking for a much more flexible work life balance that could fit around my family. After a lot of research, Lingotot seemed like the perfect option for me!
What are you most excited about?
I am so excited about starting my classes and sharing my passion for French and Spanish with children in the local area and seeing the joy that will bring! Although I have really enjoyed my time as a secondary school teacher, children really are like sponges and learning from a much younger age will help their language journey into the future, I can’t wait to encourage more budding linguists!
