The children’s language franchise Lingotot teaches fun and interactive classes to kids aged 0-12 across the UK and Ireland. Local entrepreneur Natalie Highton is the newest member of the network. Natalie recently founded Lingotot West Wigan after seeing an opportunity to bring language learning to children in the local area. We’ve been getting to know more about Natalie, her background and her business.

Hi Natalie! Let’s jump straight in with a business question, what languages will you be bringing to children in Wigan?

Lingotot West Wigan will be bringing French and Mandarin sessions to children in our local area. Classes are ready to book now and we have our FREE launch party on 22nd October and we'd love to see you all there!

Tell us a little more about yourself

I've recently moved back to Wigan after living in Beijing, China for just over four years which was an amazing opportunity but I am glad to be back home to be closer to my family. I worked in international primary schools as an IB PYP teacher where I was able to help children learn through inquiry. Before that I studied French at university and trained to be a secondary MFL teacher.

Why did you decide to found your own Lingotot business?

I am really passionate about languages and how they support children to develop critical thinking skills, practise open-mindedness and improve problem solving. Playful learning is important to me as well and I love how interactive Lingotot sessions are for babies, toddlers, preschoolers and school age children.

What are you most excited about?

I'm excited about bringing people together to try something new in schools, nurseries and within the community. I can't wait to see everyone singing, dancing and playing games in our language classes soon!
