About Me

Hi, I’m Christine! I’m a qualified primary teacher and the face behind Lingotot West Edinburgh.

My love of languages started at school, where French and Spanish sparked my curiosity about other countries and cultures. I went on to study Spanish at university and spent several months living in Spain, an invaluable opportunity to immerse myself in the language and get to know Spanish culture first-hand.

After my degree, I completed a PGDE in Primary Teaching, and I now have over 20 years of teaching experience. I love helping children grow in confidence, explore new things and develop their own strengths.

Through Lingotot, I bring together my love of languages and my experience in Early Years and primary education. I run French and Spanish community classes across Edinburgh for children aged 0–5 and their grown-ups, alongside after-school clubs for primary-aged children. I also welcome enquiries from nurseries, primary schools and home education groups interested in arranging sessions.

About My Classes

My classes give children the chance to explore French and Spanish through songs, stories, games and plenty of movement. There’s no need for any previous language experience — just come along and join in!

Community classes for ages 0–5

A playful introduction to languages for little ones and their grown-ups to enjoy together. Songs, puppets, props and simple games bring the language to life, with familiar activities and repetition helping children feel comfortable and join in at their own pace.

After-school clubs

Fun, friendly clubs where primary-aged children learn and use French or Spanish through games, songs, stories and creative activities. Children build their language skills and confidence along the way, with lots of opportunities to take part and have a go.

Sessions for nurseries, primary schools and home education groups

I also offer playful nursery sessions, French and Spanish classes as part of the primary school 1+2 curriculum, and sessions for home-educated children aged 3–12, by arrangement. Activities are tailored to the children’s ages and experience. If you are interested in sessions for your setting or group, I’d love to chat about what could work.

Whatever their age, my aim is for children to have fun, feel confident having a go and discover how languages can open up a whole world of new people, places and cultures.
