Y10 Work Experience evaluation from the student

My name is LC and I am a student in Year 10 at Hummersknott Academy, Darlington. Last week 18th June 2023 to 23rd June 2023 I took part in Work Experience week with Lucy Cass at Lingotot Darlington, where each day I attended community, nursery and primary school French sessions.

I found each session intriguing and educational in it's own way, whether it was teaching vocabulary to small groups of children in nurseries or helping primary school children with comprehension work and understanding. In every setting I was made to feel welcome by both staff and children and Lucy was excellent at explaining to me what we would be teaching and the different methods we would use to deliver the lesson. I also thought that all of the sessions were well structured, keeping the children interested and focused which allowed them to learn whilst having fun.

I thought that Lucy bonded with the children very well and held their attention throughout the whole session. The lessons were planned to ensure that the children were having fun whilst they were learning using activities,  such as treasure hunts, packing the suitcase, bouncing the parachute and more. Furthermore, Lucy helped me throughout the week and always explained why we were teaching children of different ages in certain ways, how I could join in and what children respond to most.

I had a brilliant week of Work ExperiEnce. I enjoyed working with the children and seeing them improve their French skills. I thought Lingotot Darlington's sessions were great and the children were constantly captivated and interested. Most importantly, I thought Lucy was an excellent teacher with an abundance of knowledge and patience who helped me and the children to learn in a professional and entertaining way.
