Madame Rowsell has had a wonderful impact on languages here at our school

To ensure the children at our school develop the skills needed to become confident linguists, they are taught by Madame Rowsell, from Lingotot. Madame Rowsell’s immersive teaching methods enable our children to communicate effectively in French, by gradually building their knowledge over the four years of KS2 through learning exciting songs, playing speaking and listening games and engaging with written resources.

Both our pupils and staff thoroughly enjoy our French lessons and have an increased awareness of the fundamental skills of learning a language. Madame Rowsell has had a wonderful impact on languages here at our school and we are so grateful for the positive influence she has had!

Extremely dependable, high-quality teaching in MFL

Before working with Lingotot, staff had very little knowledge or experience of teaching MFL, meaning that they lacked confidence with curriculum delivery. MFL was therefore given less curriculum priority and occasionally left out altogether. 

Our pupils enjoy their MFL sessions, increasing their exposure to, and confidence in, using spoken and written French. We have expanded this to include all pupils across KS2 and hope that, by the end of the four years, this leaves our pupils well-prepared for the next stage of their learning journey, along with an appreciation of other countries and their language & culture. The use of song, drama and discussion make the lessons easy to engage in and interactive for our pupils.

 
Lingotot have offered a range of afterschool clubs including other languages and drama, which have been well-received by pupils. We enjoy offering this provision and supporting the children develop their understanding of other languages, in a fun way.

We have developed a great working relationship with Amy and her staff. They tailor their provision to the needs of the school, are flexible to accommodate to the logistics of the school timetable and also bring ideas to enrich the life of the school. We have found them to be extremely dependable provision and, with the added benefit of using qualified teaching staff, we know that our children are able to receive high-quality teaching in MfL.

We fully value the impact Lingotot has had on our children

Lingotot has made a huge impact to Marshbrook children. Children look forward to French lessons each week, they have fun, learn and talk about French with Madame Rowsell to their parents and each other frequently. Standards in French are improving throughout the school and Christmas songs sang in French even featured in our Christmas Play!

 

Staff are highly complimentary about Lingotot and have learnt much themselves about teaching French from the CPD provided. I highly recommend Lingotot. At Marshbrook First School we fully value the impact that this has had on our children.

Amy taught my son French in both Year 5 and Year 6 at primary school. He is now at high school and continues to achieve above expected levels in his French lessons. I believe this is down to having access to a foreign language at a younger age and to Amy's fantastic teaching. Thank you for doing such a fantastic job?

My daughter loves the classes!

My daughter started Amy's French classes during the Covid-19 pandemic. She has loved the lessons. They are fun full of songs and dancing and totally kid friendly. My daughter looks forward to her French lesson every week! The resources are sent to you with all the vocab as well as extra videos to watch (like PJ Masks in French) and songs etc. It is fab! We will continue to take Amy's classes as long as possible. I love that she has now added an afterschool class time as well. We won't hesitate in using her year after year!!!

The decision to use Lingotot, and Amy, was one of the easiest decisions I've made this year. I always find that discovering good MFL teachers for primary school difficult, as it needs such expertise and knowledge. Our school has benefitted from having fun, interactive lessons provided both 1:1 and remotely thanks to Amy. Her sessions engage all children through her use of songs, stories and written work. The repetition and routines she uses in her lessons, ensures that children remember the basic skills previously learnt. She also then uses her knowledge of the children to plan where they go next in their languages journey. The children all thoroughly enjoy her lessons and the response to her remote sessions have been very positive. We won't hesitate in using her year after year!!!
